We created a hard-to-ignore, genuinely interactive mail pack which brought the Volvo C30’s brand proposition to life! Remarkably, it generated a 44.2% response rate from an audience who previously thought that Volvo was dull, dull, dull…

We were tasked to generate positive word of mouth marketing to help redefine Volvo as a brand. Our response was to target ‘opinion formers’ (a sizeable number of journalists, for example) and key people within the creative industries. If the wider target audience saw these figures connected with Volvo, they'd feel happier about buying one themselves. So, knowing these people are paid to have opinions we set out to provoke a debate and place the fate of the C30 quite literally in the hands of the recipient. Would they bash the replica C30 with the enclosed hammer or buff it with the enclosed cloth?

We continued the campaign to a wider audience by creating an insert to go in the automotive press. This needed to stand out amongst the many A5 flyers found in car magazines. To do this we created a sick bag which doubled up as a paper bag incase you started hyperventilating over the C30’s 0% APR offer.
